Teaching the Iraqis.....

Starting this coming Saturday, I will begin basic first aid classes for the units we are partnered with, the PSF or Provincial Security Forces. When we came aboard our new base, or JSS, called a Joint Securtiy Station I wanted to somehow contribute to our mission. Our primary mission here is to teach the PSF how to provide their own security, do searches of houses, look for weapons caches and handle detaniees. One piece I thought we needed to add was combat lifesaving classes so that they could save their own. I have been given the green light to develop a basic course of instruction that I will teach this coming Saturday. I will be doing that probably every four days on a rotational basis. I am also beginning to learn basic Arabic, so this will be a great opportunity for me to learn more of how to speak the language and interact with our locals. The good thing is that I will have an interpreter with me, we call them a terp, to help with the class. Looking foward to the new challenge.

Hi Joe,
This is a really neat thing that you are doing. Anything to get to the next step and get our soldiers all back here. Good Luck on your new langage learning. I heard that it is hard to learn. Is that true?
We still Thank all of our soldiers fighting for us. And we wish you all a safe and Happy Easter.
How are the new puppies?
God Bless
Love Cindy

Hi Joe,
Glad to hear that things are really progressing over there. Sounds like you keep pretty busy. The blue lake and palm trees sounds like where I just got back from the Bahamas, at least you have a nice view.
I am going to be getting with Cindy and Danialle to get a box sent your way. What is really needed? I hear there are some puppies?
Stay safe and Happy Easter to you.
Love, Kathy

Hey Joe,

Way to propose another important element for the training! That's awesome. And good luck with the classes! I'm so curious what kinds of questions/comments you might get. That's gotta be a really memorable experience. Can you take photos?

Well Happy Easter to you! It's still pretty early, but I'm cooking the dessert and veggie sides over here.

Take good care and keep posting.
Love ya,
Leah

P.S. puppies? what puppies?

Leah,

Well, when we took over this spot from the Army, they already had a dog they had adopted as a puppy last summer. She was already pregnant when we arrived and I delivered 5 puppies two weeks ago Sunday actually. What we are going to do with them...I don't know. But Roxy, is our camp guard dog. Not only does she chase off all other feral dogs, but she hates Iraqis so she is our early alert system for our security. Roxy is doing well and so are the puppies. Happy Easter to you...Love you. Oh, congrats on your new job BTW

Cindy, Kathy,
Thank you for keeping up the comments and checking in with me. It keeps me close to home. As far as what we need for our pups and Roxy, send some food, maybe small bags of it. That would really help out since all we can feed her are MRE's and those aren't that good. Otherwise we are doing well.

Joe,
How did your teaching go? Don't teach them to much we might be in trouble then.
Glad to hear that you have a few 4 legged friends around there. So you delivered them puppies? Have you ever done that before? That had to be an experience.
Did you all get fed a Easter dinner? I hope they treated you to something other then MRE's.
All is well around Jacktown, spring isn't here yet, and we had a ton of snow last Friday. But, other then that you haven't missed much.
Hope you all are safe and counting those days.
Take care for now.
Thanks for the blog response.
Love
Cindy

Hi Joe,
Can you believe that you are over half way through? This year is just moving right along. Are you still hearing a early release date? When they have the big welcome home party, will that be on your arrival home to Chicago? You talked of it being at a stadium? Or is this a special date that they will have a celebration? When the Jackson units arrive home, it is right as they arrive in town. But, I'm not forsure if your unit is all based out of Chicago?? We still would like to come there if that is how it does. I Love the Welcome Home Celebrations!!
So how is the class going? Are you learning the langage? Are the Iraq's cooperative?
We are still getting snow around here. Got a couple inches last night and some ice underneath it. Come on it is almost April, it needs to stop.
Other then that Spring Break starts for kids around here today. Wish I was going some place warm.
You take care stay safe. You and all your brothers are in our prayers.
Love
Cindy
