I have finally been able to get into a PT routine for the last couple of weeks. I try and get a good 3-4 mile run four to five days a week. Well yesterday, I had just finished doing runs up and down the bunkers and began running down the side of the air strip. I had Bob Seger playing "Against the Wind" in my ear and overhead just behind me was approaching two CH-53's. They are the dual rotor USMC helos. As I was running and listening to Bob they were coming in to land and drop off personnel. What a rush it was to be running down that air strip, listening to some good music with my heart pumping and the feeling the thumping of the rotors overhead as they were literally maybe a couple hundred feet above me flying ahead to land. In the distance the sun was just setting. That had to be the best run I have had yet.

Joe,
That had to worth a pant change after. It would have scared me to death. Listening to Bob Seger is some good stuff. And you probably had it cranked up, as that is the only way to listen to Bob. But a Helo about to land on you had to a different feeling.Thank God it was our people and not the enemy.
Glad you are getting back into a daily routine. Do you have to run with all your gear on? That would count as 12 miles with the weight of it all.
Woke up to a 50 degree day. But, forcast say snow later today and some tomorrow. We just can't seem to get away from it this year.
Hopefully you are having nice weather there? Not to hot not to cold?? Maybe?
You keep hanging in there, Time is moving along.
Till next blog. Love ya Guy.

DAMN!
Sounds awesome! Wish I was there running with you! I probably would have been listening to "Metallica" or "Dean Martin" though ;-)
Love You Baby!
XOOOO

Hello Doc, just wanted to FYI you that the package is in the mail, let us know when it arrives. Sorry it took so long but we have had 35 snowfalls this season; yep you read right "35" so logistics has been difficult.
I will look forward to your response.
Man you sounded so freeeee.......!
Joe,
Sounds like your run was really interesting and that you are able to have some type of daily routine but sounds like you are kept pretty busy.
We are off to the Bahamas for a week, getting out of this colddddd weather we have been having.
Count is down below 200 days and it won't belong long and it will be down to 0.
Stay safe.
Love, Kathy
wow that sounds like a scene in a movie or something! awesome! glad to hear you're keeping in shape. i was reading some headlines here in chicago that made me laugh and want to chat with you about it...."Weis Wants Mandatory Fitness Test For Officers - The Public Expects Police Officers To Be In Shape."
me - i just finally got a job offer in chicago (yay!) and am now on an apartment hunt...i'll keep you posted!
stay safe, healthy, positive - and keep in touch! love you!
Hey, Joe,
Finally got caught up on your blog. What a great experience for you, all in all. Haven't heard from you via phone in several weeks so I'm hoping you can call again soon. So good to hear your voice!
Good to know you have the opportunity to run and stay in shape - almost "normal" activity - was thinking that the folks in the Helo's must have been surprised to see a runner on the runway! Had to be an awesome sight for them too!
Things are good here - I've spoken to Mel several times and will stay in touch with her-she knows she can call anytime she needs anything.
I've sent packages every week since the first of Feb - hope the last two arrived in good shape (they had fresh stuff in them). Do let me or Mel know specifically that you are receiving your packages. There will be one going out each week you are away so plan on these. If you have special requests, please let me know. My psychic powers just aren't what they used to be!
Take good care and know you are in our daily prayers and thoughts.
We'll hope to see you, Engineer Rimkus, in August!!
Love,
Mom

Oh My Goddess, time is really ticking away.
I had'nt been on here for a few days , and I get on here this morning and it is 180 something days. WOW!
Have you had any more head rushes like the planes and PT?
The weather around here has finally broke a little. Hopefully it stays like this.
So what is new in the Big Sand Pit? Having they been keeping you busy?
Haven't talked to Mel in awhile, I need to call and see how her new job is going.
Are you ready to get back to your more normal lifestyle? Fighing fires!! I'm sure you miss all of those people alot.
If there is anything you need, let us know. I hope that they serve you a huge Easter dinner. You take care, hope to hear from you soon.
Love Cindy
